Over thirty years ago we became the best of friends. Our friendship grew even more when we started living our lives with our "furkids." We both decided to try our hand at obedience competition. Although we did really well, we kept getting beat by those "little Collies." Of course, we both had to have one. We soon learned that "Shelties" are like potato chips, you cannot have just one.
As we got more involved in the doggy world, we learned about how many homeless animals are euthanized each year. The millions of unnecessary deaths just made us sick. Although we are only two people, we knew we had to do something. We decided to start our own Sheltie rescue. We dreamed of a nice house with a kennel in the back yard for the homeless Shelties. We visualized a lot of fenced-in land for the dogs to run in and maybe even a farm animal or two. It took us over five years to find our dream place that met all the legal requirements, but our dream came true in December 1998. read more
